A Sinking Ship

Is your ship sinking?  Is your practice struggling?  Are you  feeling the need to “jump ship”?

It was recently shared with me that a dentist was struggling and decided he must sell his practice.  Upon my friend meeting with the doctor, he asked him, “If you sell your practice, what are you going to do? If money was not an issue, what would you do?”

Come to find out the dentist loved his practice, his patients, and his staff, but production was lacking.  Upon further discussion and evaluation, the dentist realized there was a lot of money that could easily be made by simply making some changes in his procedural processes.  Needless to say, the dentist decided not to sell and within a few months was headed in the right direction and doing quite well.  Following an additional consultation and implementing some additional changes, he now has a very successful practice.

This may not be possible in every situation, but if you are experiencing difficulties, are you asking the right people the right questions?  Each case is unique. There are professionals out there who are willing and eager to help you succeed – seek them out!

So, before you decide to sell your practice, or if you are experiencing problems and are not quite sure what the next step should be, think about what you want to see happening in your practice.  Focus on where you would like to be instead of where you currently are.  Then, seek out the people who can help you move in that direction.

The future depends on what we do in the present.”
