As I was sitting on the deck of our family cabin enjoying the cool breeze, I watched a hummingbird enjoy the hummingbird feeder. Then it happened: A larger, dominant hummingbird “stood” guard over the feeder. First, it would stay on the branch above to keep the other hummingbirds away from enjoying the nectar. Then, it got creative and would go to a slightly higher branch 8 feet away and vigilantly watch for those that might be interested in their find…the mother load of nectar. This hummingbird did well…until….two hummingbirds banded together to work creatively to distract the dominate one.
Early in life, I quickly learned that when I would hold onto something so close and tight, I would often lose it and all I was trying to gain.
Instead, I choose to live my life out of abundance. I’ve learned to give freely all that I have been entrusted with. The result is and always has been that of gaining far more than I ever could have dreamed!
